At Planet Waste Paper our mission is to provide waste management services to our customers whilst protecting the environment.
To promote recycling in order to ensure a safe and healthy community.
To encourage a supportive and safe environment at Planet Waste Paper for all our employees.
By making recycling the norm, society would move from a linear, “take, make, waste,” economy to a circular one that keeps valuable resources out of landfills.
Every metric ton of paper recycled saves 17 trees and uses 40 percent less energy, and 50 percent less water. If all household paper/cardboard were recycled 750 000 cubic metres of landfill space would be saved a year, saving local authorities R60-million a year in collection and landfill costs. The energy saved from paper recycling in a year is sufficient to provide electricity to 512 homes for a year.
Recycling has evolved from an environmentally-conscious activity into a business sector that provides jobs for thousands and generates billions for the economy every year.
South Africa has an overall paper recycling rate of 62 percent, which John Hunt, managing director of Mpact Recycling, described as quite high by global standards.
